Understanding the Holocaust: Lessons from History

This course explores the Holocaust, one of the darkest chapters in human history, to understand its causes, events, and enduring impact on the modern world. Students will examine the historical context of Nazi Germany, the rise of anti-Semitism, and the systematic genocide of six million Jews and millions of other victims.

Through primary sources, survivor testimonies, literature, and historical analysis, the course will address the moral and ethical questions raised by the Holocaust. Students will also explore themes of resistance, resilience, and the global response to atrocities.

By the end of the course, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the Holocaust’s significance, and the importance of combating hate and prejudice in today’s world. This course is designed to foster critical thinking, empathy, and an appreciation for the lessons history can teach us about humanity and justice.
